- Dead code → Obsolete laws
- Bugs in border cases → Legal loopholes
- Patches and workarounds → Exhibit A: The AMT fiasco
- Unanticipated side-effects → Pretty much every law ever passed
- Spaghetti code → Insane cross-references which make reading some statutes almost impossible
