I am now selling my first piece of software - SmugTools: Gallery Copier (really creative name, I know)! It has it’s own section of the website, where you can download it and try it for free.
Basically, this started as a personal tool I developed when I was setting up the galleries for our wedding pictures. I have been using the online photo service Smugmug. I needed a good way to copy images from one gallery to another, so I wrote a tool to do it.
After all the work it took to get that working, I figured I might was well put together an install and make it available to other people. The most interesting part of the project was figuring out a registration-key system, and hooking in payment processing from Paypal to automatically email out registration keys upon successful payment.

Hi Jordan,
Just trying this tool but it’s not behaving for me. I first selected 5 photos and copied to another gallery. When I had a look, it had copied the first one to the other gallery but the other 4 were duplicated in the same gallery. So I tried again on another 5 photos and this time none were in the other gallery, all were duplicated in the same gallery. Probably something I’m doing but can’t figure it out. Any help appreciated as I would like to buy it if I can get it working.

I have been pestering Smugmug for ages to include a feature to enable users to duplicate galleries, but as yet it hasn’t happened. Yesterday Smugmug directed me to your gallery copier. i downloaded the trial and it worked perfectly, so i have just bought it. if it works as well as the trial did, it is an absolute bargain at 10$.
Thanks for making this available - I often need to have 2 galleries with the same photos - one for people to view but protected against downloading and the second for the musicians that i photograph which is not protected so they can download the photos. Your Gallery Copier should make my Smugmug life much easier.
I’ll let you know if I have any problems.
Regards
Amanda

Jordan,
I’m trying to purchase this application and the page that is to load the Paypal (http://www.liggitt.net/smugtools) hangs in my IE7, never loads it and becomes non-responsive. There is no pop-up issue, I’ve tried adding it to “trusted sites”, no luck. What’s the deal?

Hi Jordon,
I purchused the gallary copier and I am unable to copy a gallary to another. It starts like its going to work then it says an error ocurred please restart the operation, well after restarting several times I decided it will not work. I tried moving the gallary and it will move the gallary or the pictures in it, but I wanted to copy them so they will be in two different categories. What am I doing wrong? I had to upload the pictures back into the other gallary that I moved they from. I bet its something simple ,but I don’t no what to do now. Please advises me on what I am doing wrong.
Thanks,
Ron McHugh
